Thank you, Dorie, for the many years of serving on the board!
Next year’s slate of officers is set to be elected at the May general meeting.
March Board Meeting minutes approved:

Sonata/Sonatina Festival:
  • Set for October 11
  • The board approves the event budget
Scholarship Basket:
  • Spencer is putting it together. Look for his email about donations.
Music Olympic Polls:
  • Potentially switch time of year
  • Kaitlyn will send out a questionnaire
Discussion about creating an archive of Board Approval Forms:
Jody Graves Workshop contract has been signed
August 1st deadline for event dates and details to be sent to the board
September 4th Deadline for Michael to post on website
  • This coincides with the first board meeting of the next school year.

Next Year Committees and Board:
  • Members are encouraged to consider leadership roles within the chapter or positions that assist with programs the chapter offers

Harmony Chamber Festival:
  • Keep in mind for next year!
  • Students who want to participate should be able to learn pieces rather quickly
Discussion on the possibility of getting coordination between the different local groups when scheduling events so they don’t all happen at the same time.

Meeting called to order at 8:31am.

Minutes from November Board Meeting approved. Dorie moves to approve, Eva seconds.
2025 Masterclass Review:
  • 14 students from 5 teachers participated
  • Cost was $730
  • Event made $630 for a $100 deficit
  • Board is requesting that Kim give an itemized breakdown in her report.
2026 Masterclass:
  • Charlie Albright
  • Requesting $100 an hour
  • 14 students at $50 needed for event to happen
  • Kim is attempting to lock down a contract with Charlie now to coincide with his visit to Western.
  • Total cost would be $800
  • Dorie makes a motion to approve the expected cost with the possibility of raising the student fee to $55 or $60 in order to attempt to avoid a deficit. Michael seconds.
  • Kim is authorized to proceed with pursuing a contract with Mr. Albright
General Discussion on Event Budgets and Travel Costs:
  • Contracts are needed for presenters and adjudicators
  • The chapter can offer to cover travel expenses to a reasonable extent, but that extent needs more clarity before we offer it in the contract.
Need Board Approval Forms for the Following Events:
  • Chapter Competition
  • Honor’s Recital

Additional Information Regarding Board Activity Via Email:
August 14-19, 2024
  • Board discusses request to reimburse Jody Graves $0.49 a mile for her travel costs in regard to the 2024/2025 Workshop
  • There is concern that this is a little too expensive.
  • There is also an understanding that the chapter is currently experiencing good financial health and that we are able to cover that expense.
  • This discussion is continued at the 2024 September Board Meeting
September 5-9, 2024
  • Eva notifies board members that Jody is okay with Oct. 12 being the cutoff for deciding whether the Workshop is a go or not, and that Jody is okay with the $0.49 a mile travel reimbursement.
  • Michael asks to confirm the Workshop registration fees at $80 for non-members, $60 for members with the price increasing to $70 on Oct. 12, and $50 for students

  • Board Approves yearly budget for the 2024-2025 year
November 11, 2024
  • Board Approves use of WWU PAC for Honors recital with the extra $300 cleaning fee to be covered by the surplus of funds in the chapter’s accounts

Collegiate Chapter:
  • The Music Teachers Association Chapter at Western fluctuates based on member initiative.

Meeting called to order at 8:33 am by Andrea
Honors Recital:
     - This year Western is asking for a $300 cleaning fee to use Concert Hall
     Options:
  1. Absorb the fee
  2. Use different room at Western (board decided that it wasn’t as good of atmosphere for the significance of the event)
  3. See if First Congregational Church wouldn’t cost as much and be available for the date
     - The Board will reach out to Judy to see if the First Congregational Church is available.
  • If it is and it’s less expensive, we’ll go that route
  • If it isn’t or it’s more expensive, we’ll use the Concert Hall and pay the fee
Halloween Recital:
      - $165 in fees collected (profit of $58.04)
      - $280 raised for the Nancy Heyer Scholarship fund
      Next Year:
      - Consider starting at 1:00pm instead
      - Delegate tasks to participating teachers
      - Continue with Raffle and promote it more before the recital
      - Consider intermission for future recitals

             - Lenelle Morse presents, "Collaboration Ideas for String and Piano Students;" and bonus tips on                   Lenelle's favorite theory apps.
December Potluck:
              - Held December 12
              - Michael will change the date on the website
Pedagogy Class at Western needs student volunteers:
              - Eva will send an email with information
Teacher Enrichment Fund:
              - Available to Teachers
Sonatina/Sonata Festival:
              - 34 participants
              - Better directions needed for students to navigate PAC at Western
              - Maybe have a second sheet for comments?
Halloween Recital:
              - Rabia will send a reminder and depending on the number of registered students, there is the                      potential to open it up for teachers to register more than five students
Workshop:
              - 11 registered which is enough for this event to happen!
              - Potential for a potluck for the lunch hour
Treasurer’s Report:
              Checking - $5,422.90
