Work during the summer to secure advertisers for our Chapter. Work with Website chair to set up online payments. Deliver a list of advertisers to the Honors Recital and Student Recital Chairs (to be included in recital programs), and the advertisers’ ads to the Website chair (so they can put a link to the advertiser’s website and ad on the BMTA website). Honors Recital: Eva Sauve and Mary Walby This event recognizes students who played exceptionally well in MAP, selected by the Visiting Artist (1 student for every 5 students a BMTA teacher enters into MAP). Fill out Board Approval Form well in advance for budgeting. Reserve date at WWU (through our WWU liason); communicate to the Visiting Artist the guidelines to being selected for the Honors Recital; communicate to all participating teachers about what/when you need from them; collect list of performers from Visiting Artist/teachers; formulate and print recital programs (one set with advertisers' ads and one set without); secure required ushers; be present to be in charge of the recital. Invite the public to this event, especially our advertisers. Fill out Committee Chair Report Form and Expense and Reimbursement Form when event is completed. Set a date (typically January); secure a venue; book a clinician; advertise the event by emailing the membership and listing info on website; work with Website chair to set up online payments, take registrations. Fill out Committee Chair Report Form and Expense and Reimbursement Form (if needed) when event is completed. Music Artistry Program: Gabe & Rebecca Manalac Organize all aspects of the yearly WSMTA chapter Music Artistry Program (packet provided by State with checklist). This includes securing a Visiting Artist (years in advance), setting dates and location, communicating with chapter members about the event and deadlines, organizing schedule. Fill out Board Approval Form well in advance for budgeting. Fill out Committee Chair Report Form and Expense and Reimbursement Form when event is completed. Music Olympics (Music Literacy Program): Kaitlyn Ronstadt Organize all aspects of this annual testing event. Fill out Board Approval Form well in advance for budgeting. Be aware of the tests currently available from WSMTA. Set a date, secure a venue, advertise the event by emailing the membership and listing info on website, book volunteers, work with Website chair to set up online payments, communicate to the state the high and highest achievers, and fill out Committee Chair Report Form and Expense and Reimbursement Form (if needed) when event is completed. |
Piano Competition: Judy Widrig & Kay Zavislak

Work with Website chair to set up online payments, schedule the order, print program. Fill out Committee Chair Report Form and Expense and Reimbursement Form (if needed) when event is completed. Senior Awards: Vanessa Ellis Contact teachers at the beginning of the year to find out who will have graduating seniors that qualify for the High School recognition. Fill out Board Approval Form well in advance for budgeting. Send out reminders to membership by email and make sure date is listed on website. Collect seniors’ forms by February 23rd. Make up certificates and secure a gift certificate to be presented to the teacher/senior at the Honors Recital. State Scholarship Basket: Rabia Magnusson Organize and secure items to donate (usually from members) to State convention raffle (April-May). Work with Website chair to set up online donations. You can get creative with the presentation. It’s recommended to put out a donation basket at every meeting. Student Recitals: Rabia Magnusson, Kay Zavislak Secure facilities, set dates, advertise events and deadlines to membership via email and website, take registrations, work with Website chair to set up online registration/payments, create and make copies of programs, be in charge the day of or secure host. Consider holding recital(s) in retirement homes for outreach (in this case, wave participation fee). Fill out Board Approval Form well in advance for budgeting. Send copy of each program to MTNA Headquarters (for ASCAP coverage). Fill out Committee Chair Report Form and Expense and Reimbursement Form when event is completed. Website: Michael Hannon Maintain and update information regularly. Deal with technical issues that may arise. Workshop: Eva Sauve Decide on a workshop of interest to the group.
